For my first love Apoorva whom I proposed on 20/4/2008. My best friend she was, my lover she is now. May we be together till the end of time

Lady Fair

© Shantanu Naidu

Fair remain, the pink shadows of thy cheek
Unbidden my heart silently bleeds
The curve of thy smile, lovingly lingers
Like the moon cut half, and the nightly singers
O lady fair, don't make me stare
Don't drag this fool, in the love lion's lair
Why dim these eyes, with the light of yours
For blindness this but has no cures
Speak gently please, o lady mistress
My speech is vain, words crushed in distress
Let me lay at thy feet, the purest trust
Let it be attended, let it not rust
Where will the moon be, when clouds are thick?
And where will you be, when our loving hearts sit
That desperate rush, in your company
It's lovely music, a lost symphony
You are with me now and will be later
Do be with me, my heart’s no traitor —20/4/2008
